We've been going to Washington quite a bit in the last few years to visit family. It is so beautiful up there. They live in the Pacific Northwest near the Olympic Forest or National Park. Amazing hiking to be had up there.
Lots of beautiful waterfalls. We took my FIL to see one. He had never been even though he lived there for years. He has a hard time walking so the one we went to see was just a short walk on a paved walkway. It was a bit of a struggle with his walker and he was getting a bit discourages, but when a couple walked by and said something about it was good to see the elderly taking time to enjoy nature, he got a sudden burst of energy. Haha.
There is another one we go through a bit of a hike to see. Through a tunnel under the road and walk amidst the lovely trees, ferns and mushrooms. Listening to the river running through along the east side... until we finally reached the waterfall. It goes from a thinner trickle during dry seasons and was a wild torrent after all the rain up there lately. You can see it from the bottom, a little ways up and then about a third of the height...
The walkway is steep and twisty. The smell of the trees and open air is amazing. You walk and feel tired but refreshed. Makes for a great adventure.
